BIOINFORMATICS, BHU

The Bioinformatics Centre at the School of Biotechnology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi was set up 1989 as one of the Distributed Information Sub-Centres (DICs) under the Biotechnology Information System (BTIS) programme of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Centre is equiped with state of the art hardware and software. The INTERNET facility through V-SAT became available during 1997. The room in which the Sub-Centre is hosted at present was built in 1998. In the year 1995, Data Entry Operator and Programmer Gr. II were appointed and the post of Information officer was filled in year the 2001.
